Apprentice Awards | On the evening of Wednesday 20 March, Ricoh UK Products Ltd.’s apprenticeship partner, Shrewsbury Colleges Group (SCG) celebrated the outstanding individual achievements of the class of 2023.

The Awards Evening

The annual awards, which took place at Albrighton Hall, recognised 30 students for their outstanding performance in their chosen course and wider contribution to the college, including those enrolled on full-time courses, higher education, and apprenticeships.

For Charlie Kelsey, who successfully secured himself a Junior Engineer role in Ricoh UK Products Ltd.’s Additive Manufacturing Department, Ricoh 3D, following his four-year apprenticeship at RPL & SCG, he was named as Apprentice Student of the Year. Huge congratulations, Charlie!

Apprentice Student of the Year

Charlie was recognised for his outstanding performance in his Engineering Apprenticeship in which he achieved a distinction and was a highly regarded, passionate and influential member of the team, both at college and at RPL.

Charlie is now undertaking a 4-year Engineering degree programme at Staffordshire University, alongside his work at RPL, as a valuable member of the Ricoh 3D team.

The students who attended the event were presented with a trophy to celebrate their achievement, a copy of their award citation as well as a cheque in appreciation of their efforts. Families of the award winners were also in attendance along with senior figures from the college and local dignitaries.

James Staniforth, Principal and CEO of Shrewsbury Colleges Group said: “It has been a genuine pleasure to recognise and celebrate the achievements of the students who have won awards tonight.

“These students have progressed to study at fantastic universities or secured brilliant jobs, but many of them made a real contribution to the college community as well. They supported their fellow students along with making a wider contribution to society.”
