Mark Dickin, who heads up the Additive Manufacturing and Moulding team, shares a clear service update that the welfare of our employees, our customers and our partners is Ricoh 3D’s absolute priority as we maintain full production.
Over the last two months, there has been an outstanding nationwide effort in the battle against Covid-19 and we here at Ricoh 3D are proud to be playing our small part.
By producing tens of thousands of face visors for frontline key workers every week, our teams have been – and are – working tirelessly to ensure we remain reactive to meet the demands of any projects we can assist with and consistently produce high quality parts.
The health and welfare of our colleagues and customers has remained the governing priority throughout this fast-evolving situation and we have been able to adapt our normal service to ensure we run at full capacity in our 3D print manufacturing operation throughout these challenging times.
Our Operations Board has taken the time to review customer demand and the impact of the new government guidelines on safe working practices. It has required a thorough review of all working practices and provisions have been made for all infection prevention safe working practices issued by the UK Government, including those relating to hygiene and social distancing. Only those employees essential to production are called to site, and back-office staff continue to work from home where possible.
The current UK Government advice is clear and requires that we continue manufacturing to keep the country going. However, before deciding to go ahead, we have made every attempt to justify that there is a societal need, and that we are not exposing our employees to unacceptable levels of risk. We have also been working closely with our supply chain partners to ensure no disruption to material, part supply or delivery.
The on-going situation has certainly posed numerous logistical challenges but, given the vital role of British manufacturing in the battle against Covid-19, we have been determined to find solutions at every corner to ensure we can meet demand whilst still protecting our most important asset – our staff.
We thank all colleagues and customers for their ongoing support and look forward to working together through these challenging times.
