Binder Jetting (BJ)
What is Binder Jetting?
The Binder Jetting process bonds powdered material by jetting a bonding agent through an ink jet head. The powder is layered across a build platform via a roller, an inkjet head passes across the layer and jets a bonding agent to bond the particles together. Some systems can also apply colour to the outer surface via the ink jet head. The platform lowers by the defined layer height and the process is repeated to create a 3d printed object.
Binder Jetting does not require any additional support material as the un-bonded powder supports the part during the build process therefore lots of parts can be build inside the same build volume at once.
- Cheap technology
- Fast printing speed
- Full coloured parts
- Photorealistic parts
- Large material range (any powder)
- Fragile parts with limited part performance
